The Klamath 911 Emergency Communications District will continue to use the tax revenue from this measure to maintain funding for critical positions, address the needs of our citizens and public safety partners, maintain necessary equipment, and proactively implement advanced technologies.
In recent years, Klamath 911 has undertaken a broad modernization effort that will improve our communications with the public and Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement during emergencies. While these upgrades to our aging infrastructure are necessary, they come with increased licensing and maintenance costs.
Klamath 911 has struggled to recruit staff for this increasingly challenging job. As the public has more ways to reach emergency assistance, with texting 911 and automatic crash detection systems in vehicles and mobile devices, our call volume has increased by 11% in the last five years.
Without this revenue, the 911 District will be unable to maintain necessary staffing levels, equipment, and planning for advancing technologies.
