The Telecom Specialist Trainee position is responsible for receiving 9-1-1 and other emergency calls and supporting the dispatch services for Police, Fire, and EMS. This position is Full-Time, working 40 hours per week with a rotation of shifts on days, swing, and graveyard.

The Process:
1. Application reviewed for completeness, qualification, grammar, spelling, etc.
2. Criminal history checks are conducted, and one must have no criminal convictions
3. Qualified Applicants will be scheduled for CritiCall Testing
(Typing, High School Equivalency & Multi-Tasking)
4. Qualified Applicants will be scheduled for a 2hr Dispatch Sit-in
5. Oral Board Interview will be scheduled with qualified applicants & a 2nd 2hr Dispatch Sit-in
6. Based on the recommendation of the Oral Board, applicants will be scheduled for an individual interview with the Executive Director.
7. The Executive Director will conduct individual interviews and extend a conditional offer, with a tentative start date, to the most qualified candidate pending successful completion of steps #8-10. If any step is unsuccessful, the conditional offer will be withdrawn.
8. Background Investigation: Upon accepting a conditional offer, the candidate will proceed with a rigorous background check processed externally by a 3rd party investigator.
9. Psychological Evaluation: Upon successfully passing the background investigation, the candidate will proceed with a psychological evaluation. The evaluation is conducted externally by a physician qualified to examine, in accordance with DPSST standards and the requirements necessary to obtain certification.
10. Physical & Drug Screen: Upon successful completion of step #9, the candidate will be scheduled for a physical and drug screen. The physical and drug screen will be conducted by an external physician qualified to perform such duties.
11. Start Date: The start date will be confirmed with the successful completion of step #10.
